Throughout the pages of the Bible, a loving God in a seven fold divine and progressive revelation (Psa. 19:1; Rom.2:15;Ex. 24:12;Rom. 15:4; Jn. 1:14; Heb. 8:10; 2Cor. 3:2-3) reveals his plan to the fallen addict through the death of His Son, Jesus Christ, on the cross.
The shedding of his precious blood, in the unlimited atonement (Jn. 1:29) makes it possible for us to come to him by faith and receive his free gift of eternal salvation (Eph. 2:8-9), thereby being bought back from the slave market of addiction (Ex. 13-14, Rom. 8:23; Eph. 1:7; Col. 1:14; Heb. 9:12).
At this point the Holy Spirit fills (Acts 10:44; Gal. 4:6), seals (Eph. 1:13), and takes up residence within us (I Cor. 6:19; 2Tim 1:14), and thus convicts, leads (Jn. 16:13), and teaches us (Jn. 14:26; I Cor. 2:13; I Jn 2;27) to live a transformed life (Rom. 12:2). Being God almighty (Gen. 17:1,35:11; Ex. 6:3; Rev. 4:8), the Creator (Isa. 40:26-28; Eph. 3:9) and sustainer (Heb. 1:3) of the universe, he empowers us to do so (2 Tim 1:7).
Upon hearing this news, some of us are delivered from our old habits instantly, with never any serious desire for them again. for others, it is an ongoing struggle to experience the victory that was won at Calvary’s Cross, and the addict nature wars for dominion (Jas. 4:1; I Pet. 2:11) within the soul.
We must not be discouraged if we fail in our attempt to live clean, He forgives us when we confess our sin to Him (1 Jn 2:2). if we submit our will to His and resist temptation (Jas.4:7) we are Grace Overcomers; because “greater is he that is in us than he that is in the world” (1Jn. 4:4). The key to freedom is an attitude of humility; for he resists the proud, but gives greater grace to the humble (Jas. 4:6), who live in a “spirit of meekness” (1Cor. 4:21; Eph. 4:2; Col. 3:12).
If you want to be set free say “AMEN!” Take a step of faith (2 Cor. 5:7); open the door to your heart (Rev. 3:20) and begin with the ABC’s. These are seven basic revelatory principals that separate the (spiritual) wise men (Prov. 9:1-12) from the (carnal) fools (Prov. 9:13-18). Meditate on them! Hide them in your heart! if you do, you will find that you are a pillar in the House of God (Rev. 3:12).
